Luke was going to become Vader, destroy the Rebels and become Emperor

Did you know that George Lucas originally wanted Luke Skywalker to become Darth Vader at the end of Return of the Jedi? His last lines were going to be "Now I am Vader. Now I will go and kill the [Rebel] fleet and I will rule the universe." That would have been cool. It's one of ten unknown facts about the movie.

mel b cleavage london party club

The ladiez were out in London!

Mel B didn't hold anything back this weekend as she stepped out to party at Disco nightclub with a friend.

He wasn't all she brought with her as her boobies were on grand display in an itsy bitsy, leeettle black dress that is probably smaller than most napkins!

But who can blame Mel B when you've got a hot bod like that! Gurl should show it allll off any chance she gets!

We just hope no one tried to rest their heads on her plush bosom at the end of the night because they sure do look like they'd make good pillows.

Pakistan struggles to help quake victims; 210 dead

QUETTA, Pakistan (AP) ? Rescuers struggled Wednesday to help thousands of people injured and left homeless after their houses collapsed in a massive earthquake in southwestern Pakistan the day before as the death toll rose overnight to at least 210.

The earth moved with enough force to create a small island visible off the southern coast after the huge tremor, said Pakistani officials.

The magnitude 7.7 quake struck in the remote district of Awaran in Pakistan's Baluchistan province on Tuesday afternoon. Such a quake is considered major, capable of widespread and heavy damage.

The Additional Home Secretary in Baluchistan, Zahid bin Maqsood, put the death toll at 210 and said 375 people had been injured, while a spokesman for the provincial government, Jan Mohammad Bulaidi, put the death toll at 250 ? conflicting figures likely due to the difficulty in contacting local officials and people in the remote region.

"We are finding it very difficult to reach the affected remote areas," said Bulaidi. "We need more tents, more medicine and more food."

He described a horrific scene of people who lost limbs in the quake and who will need to be sent to hospitals in major cities of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, and Karachi along the Arabian Sea.

The quake flattened wide swathes of Awaran, the district where it was centered. Most of the victims were killed when their houses collapsed.

Associated Press images from the village of Kaich showed the devastation that the massive quake had wrought. Houses made mostly of mud and handmade bricks had collapsed, walls and roofs caved in and people's possessions scattered on the ground. A few goats roamed through the wreckage as men dug through the rubble.

In images shown on Pakistani television, an unidentified man who appeared to be injured in his leg was shown supported by two men helping him walk. He said he was drinking tea when he heard a loud bang: "It shook everything."

In Pakistani cities such as Karachi and Quetta people ran into the streets in fear, praying for their lives when the quake hit.

The Pakistani military said it had rushed almost 1,000 troops to the area overnight and was sending helicopters as well. A convoy of 60 Pakistani army trucks left Karachi early Wednesday, carrying supplies for those affected by the quake.

Pakistani forces have evacuated 174 people from various villages around Awaran to the district hospital, the military said in a statement.

Local officials said they were sending doctors, food and 1,000 tents for people who had nowhere to sleep as strong aftershocks continued to shake the region.

The United Nations said in a statement that it mourned the victims and was in close contact with the Pakistani government to provide help if needed.

Pakistani officials were investigating a small island that appeared off the coast of Pakistan after the quake, apparently the result of earth and mud pushed to the surface by the quake.

The head of the Geological Survey of Pakistan confirmed that the mass was created by the quake and said scientists were trying to determine how it happened. Zahid Rafi said such masses are sometimes created by the movement of gases locked in the earth under the sea, pushing mud and earth up to the surface in something akin to a mud volcano.

"When such a strong earthquake builds pressure, there is the likelihood of such islands emerging," he said. "That big shock beneath the earth causes a lot of disturbance."

To get a better idea of what the island is made of and how permanent it is, scientists will have to get samples of the material to see if it's mostly soft mud or rocks and harder material. He said these types of islands can remain for a long time or eventually subside back into the ocean, depending on their makeup.

A Pakistani Navy team reached the island by midday Wednesday, navy geologist Mohammed Danish told the country's Geo Television. He said the mass was about 60 feet (18 meters) high, 100 feet (30 meters) long and 250 feet (76 meters) wide.

"There are stones and mud," he said, warning residents not to try to visit the island. "Gasses are still emitting."

But dozens of people had already visited the island, said the deputy commissioner of Gwadar district, Tufail Baloch, who traveled by boat himself to the island Wednesday morning.

Water bubbled along the edges of the island, in what appeared to be gas discharging from under the surface, Baloch said. He said the area smelled of gas that caught fire when people lit cigarettes.

Dead fish floated on the water's surface while local residents were visiting the island and taking stones as souvenirs, he added.

Such land masses have appeared before off Pakistan's Makran coast, said Muhammed Arshad, a hydrographer with the navy. After quakes in 1999 and 2010, new land masses rose up along a different part of the coast about 282 kilometers (175 miles) east of Gwadar, he said.

He said each of those disappeared back into the sea within a year during the monsoon season, a period of heavy rain and wind that sweeps Pakistan every summer. He said that in the area where the island was created on Tuesday, the sea is only about six to seven meters (23 feet) deep.

Baluchistan is Pakistan's largest province but also the least populated and most impoverished. Medical facilities are few and far between and often poorly stocked with medicine or qualified personnel. Awaran district has about 300,000 residents spread out over 29,000 square kilometers (11,197 sq. miles).

Many residents are believed to be involved in smuggling fuel from Iran, while others harvest dates.

The area where the quake struck is at the center of an insurgency that Baluch separatists have been waging against the Pakistani government for years. The separatists regularly attack Pakistani troops and symbols of the state, such as infrastructure projects.

Baluchistan and neighboring Iran are prone to earthquakes. A magnitude 7.8 quake centered just across the border in Iran killed at least 35 people in Pakistan last April.

A Scientific Feast of Articles about Our Relationship with Food

Perhaps the most intimate relationship each of us will ever have is not with any fellow member of our own human species. Instead?as you have no doubt already guessed from the subject and title of this special issue?it is between our bodies and our food.

In fact, when our editorial team first discussed pursuing this edition's theme several months ago, we all became intrigued by the intricate reciprocal interactions between us and our chow. On the one hand, we certainly are what we eat. Food constitutes our very being. It can serve up sensory delights, as senior editor Michael Moyer, who organized this single-topic issue, explains in his essay on the nature of deliciousness. It affects our long-term health, as nutrition researcher Gary Taubes discusses in ?What Makes You Fat: Too Many Calories, or the Wrong Carbohydrates?? It even helped make us human; explains senior editor Kate Wong's interview with Richard Wrangham of Harvard University in ?Case for (Very) Early Cooking Heats Up.?

On the other hand, we intensively manage our sources of sustenance, shaping them to our needs and desires and affecting the environment on a global scale. In ?The Truth about Genetically Modified Food? David H. Freedman explains our modern breeding techniques. Culinary expert Evelyn Kim traces ?Processed Food: A 2-Million-Year History? that has led to the present-day nutritional outputs of the food-industrial complex. What we ingest can even work as an ecosystem corrective, as chef Bun Lai points out in his story, ?Invasive Species Menu of a World-Class Chef.?

As one editor put it, the issue ultimately is about how we play with our food and how food, in turn, plays with us. We invite you to dig in.

Spaceteam (for iPhone)

In Star Trek, Kirk gives a jargon-laden command, and someone on the bridge of the Enterprise?let's say Sulu?noodles on some control panel and the ship swerves to safety. Were you to take that scene, combine it with a healthy dose of absurdity, you'd get Spaceteam (free), a wonderfully insane and wholly unique game for iPhone.

Soak Ferrous Holospectrum
Spaceteam is a multiplayer-only game, requiring two to four players (iPhone or Android) in the same room and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. In it, players take the role of a spaceship crew members, with their own special control panel on their iPhone screens.

To save your ship from impending disaster (demonstrated by a rapidly approaching ball of fire), you must carry out the mission critical commands that appear at the top of the screen. Except you probably don't have the appropriate control panel, so you'll have to shout the command out loud to your crewmates and hope that one of them can execute the order. For instance, I might get the command "Wash Dishes" but you've got a panel labeled "Dishes" with a large "Wash" button underneath.

Some commands require all the players to participate. To successfully pass a wormhole, for instance, everyone has to flip their phones upside down. Other hazards include your panels being rendered unreadable from a broken translator, and panels becoming unscrewed and swinging freely (following the motion of your phone), to name a few.

Carry out enough commands and you'll be whisked to the relative safety of the next sector. Fail too many times, and your tiny craft is engulfed in flames. Note that the game appears to have no defined winning condition. Your hilarious doom is assured.

Though free, Spaceteam includes several in-app purchases for new challenges and other extras. I normally abhor such things, but most of these do expand the game, and only one person need purchase them in order for everyone on a Spaceteam to enjoy. There are also free, experimental features for additional madness; like massive games of up to eight players or games where players aren't told which team they're playing with.

Set Lustrous Prismneck to Maximum
Spaceteam benefits from being willfully against the grain of most mobile multiplayer games. The strange multiplayer set up, for instance, is one of my favorite features. There's no single player mode or remote multiplayer, but executing either of these would be difficult given the nature of the game. ?It demands silly, interpersonal interaction and the game just wouldn't be as much without everyone in the same room. Note that when Wi-Fi is unavailable, payers can form teams over Bluetooth, but not cross-platform.

Instead of quiet, solitary gaming, the requisite in-person shouting of Spaceteam gives it a palpable sense of urgency, though long sessions can be draining (but really, you're not going to last long). Having to say such silly things aloud and still play a devilishly difficult game makes it feel like Karaoke, where players are embarrassed into having a good time.

Increase Astral Synth to One
Don't be fooled by Spaceteam's stripped-down design (see the slideshow for images). It's very well made and extremely responsive, even on my iPhone 4s. I have never (or at least, never noticed) an instance where the game lagged, dropped players, or otherwise caused me to have a bad time. I have noticed that sometimes it has difficulty detecting players before games begin, though this could be a network issue.

Also on the subject of design, the skeuomorphic controls make each level extra hard, since you'll have to figure out how each control works as the game progresses. It's also delightfully satisfying to spin dials and slide sliders, even if they are only virtual.

Jiggle Emergency Whittler
Game developers quickly figured out winning formulas for iOS, and even some of the best iPhone games are just clever re-hashes of familiar concepts. Spaceteam is not like that. It feels very un-cynical; like the developer was primarily concerned with making a fun game. It's also gleefully silly, and truly, unabashedly social.

Because Spaceteam is so different, it's going to limit when and with whom you play. But if you, and a few friends/strangers can all agree to spend a little time being silly, then Spaceteam will thrill you. Just don't forget to set Shiftsanitizer to one, and pick up this five-star Editors' Choice for iPhone games.

Seaside Home Interior Design Decorating Tips and Ideas | Inhabit ...

By admin on September 24, 2013

Seaside homes can be a real pleasure to live in and some seaside home interior design decorating tips and ideas help in offering the most beautiful look to the interiors. The decoration is enhanced by the use of objects particular to seaside and a construction that gives a view of the blue waters.

Room by the blue waters

luxury cushioned chairs

The construction of the house offers a view of the sea through the glass walls facing the sea. This particular room serves best as the living room with a number of luxury cushioned chairs in light hues. An ancient wooden chair would break the rhythm. A glass table with a potted plant at the centre faced by all the chairs can make a perfect seating arrangement. The dominant color remains white to absorb the feel of the sea.

Beautify the balcony

Beautify the balcony

A balcony offering a view of a small garden below can be just great. Appropriate furniture on the large balcony can be the perfect place for enjoying the rising and receding of the waves. The open and spacious balcony in white can is beautified by a large chandelier hanging by the side where the roof has been slightly lowered. The dominant white can be complemented by black wrought iron chairs and sofas with some extra cushions. Wooden floors always complete the look.

Use the landing area

landing of the seaside house

The landing of the seaside house can be used for a beautiful and cosy seating arrangement. For this seaside home interior design decorating, a couple of simply designed chairs can be used with table in between. A carelessly fashioned standard sized log can do for the table. It evokes a natural feel while taking up lesser space. A large glass window offering a view of the sea on one side and painting on the opposite wall offer a warm feel to the landing.

Eco-friendly kitchen

Eco-friendly kitchen

An eco-friendly environment is always welcome. The kitchen is the right place where one can go eco-friendly. The key concept lies in streamlining so that the room becomes less congested and more spacious. The cabinets can be done with wood, the production of which abides by the environmental standards. The kitchen island could work pretty well as the dining table with chair kept on the sides. While this was for a kitchen with a small space, a sufficiently large kitchen can have bright blue walls and silver-grey floor tiles to enhance the oceanic effect. The light at the breakfast area can be amplified with the use of glass windows all over the wall on the east.

Doing the bedroom in colors

bedroom in colors

The bedroom is the right place where the homeowner can play with light hues. The large windows constituting half of the wall open to the deep blue sea. A couple of chairs with a simply designed bed can do the magic.

With the seaside home interior design decorating tips and ideas the home owner can have a seaside house with perfect interiors.

Tim Cook tweets his joy at record iPhone sales

News

There say success is the best revenge. And it appears Apple?s weekend saw the tech giant revel in the biggest dose of it. For all the naysayers and prophesiers of doom and gloom, leaping to claim that Apple is dead and buried, has given up on innovation and should basically just pick up its bat and ball and go home, the figures posted for the first weekend?s sales of the iPhones 5c and 5s, will see the Cupertino California company laugh all the way to the proverbial financial institution.

Nine million sales are a heck of a lot of phones ? even if you take into account such qualifying factors as this being the first time Apple has launched two new iPhones on the same day, and that it also launched the phones in 11 territories at once, including China (which traditionally has welcomed new phones sometime later). Some analysts believe that China was responsible for three million of those sales alone. At launch, the phones were also available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK ? whereas in 2012 the list did not include China and Puerto Rico.

The UK?s Guardian newspaper?has also suggested that the breakdown of sales was around two to one in favour of the iPhone 5s ? with huge demand for the premium model, despite the ?constrained supplies? and swift sell-outs of the model reported around the world.

All this has led to one pretty chirpy Apple CEO. Chirpy enough to finally enter the Twitter-sphere and post his first three tweets. Well, two tweets and one a re-tweet from sycophantic iOS 7 fan, Conan O?Brien, who seems to be on the scrounge?

Cook isn?t the only one who?s happy of course. Wall Street is also looking on the bright side of things. With the strong sales of the new iPhones, Apple posted a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating its expectations for the fourth fiscal quarter have improved considerably. The company is?now looking at revenues at the high end of estimates ? US$34 billion to US$ 37 billion, with profit margins around 36 to 37 percent.

Meanwhile, shares in the company also received a boost; after initially dipping at the end of last week, they climbed 4.97 percent to close at US$490.64.

And Apple, famous for finding ways to share in the profits of any deals that revolve around its products and services, must be wishing it were able to profit from on-sales on eBay, following reports that a gold iPhone fetched $10,000 on the online auction site over the weekend.

Perhaps, fittingly, the last word for now should go to Cook, who said in a statement,??This is our best iPhone launch yet ? more than nine million new iPhones sold ? new record for first weekend sales.? The best revenge indeed.

Google App Engine: Querying the datastore, WHERE clause refers to a reference property

This is exactly the sort of thing you cannot do with the App Engine datastore. It is not a relational database, and you cannot query it as one. One of the things this implies is that it does not support JOINs, and you cannot do queries across entity types.

Because of this, it is usually not a good idea to follow the full normalized form in creating your data models. Unless you have a very good reason for keeping them separate, ContactInfo should almost certainly be merged with Owner. You might also want to define a repeated ReferenceProperty on Owner that records books_owned: then you can do a simple query and some gets to get all the books:

owners = db.Query(Owner).filter('zipcode', 12345) books = [] for owner in owners:     book_ids.extend(owner.books_owned) books = db.get(book_ids)

Grief Healing: "Am I Going Mad?" ~ Mystical Experiences in Grief

Desire is indeed powerful. It engenders belief. ~ Marcel Proust

Of all the various ways that grief can express itself, perhaps one of the most unsettling is to experience the presence of a lost loved one? days, weeks or months after the death has occurred. When one so dear to you is gone, it can be very hard to accept that the person is really dead.

You may find yourself thinking and dreaming about your loved one much of the time, and it may seem that everything around you is a reminder of the person you have lost. Once in a while you may temporarily forget that your loved one is gone, and you?ll look and listen for him or her?and maybe even think that you?ve seen, heard, smelled or touched the person. Part of you believes your loved one is there, yet the other part of you knows that?s not the case.
?

At some point you may think you?ve received a symbolic communication or message from the person who has died. Some people find this to be very frightening and disorienting, while others find it to be quite helpful and even comforting. In any case, it?s important to know that such experiences are very common and perfectly normal during times of loss. Sometimes as long as a year after the death of a loved one, people will report sensing (hearing, feeling, seeing) the person in the room. They believe the person is there, yet they also know their loved one is dead. They may feel very foolish or embarrassed? they may be very frightened? and they often wonder, "Am I going mad?"

Be aware that, although grief responses differ from one person to another, it is normal to experience a wide range of emotions during the grieving process, including the sensation of hearing, seeing, touching or smelling your loved one who died.

In the first edition of Kenneth Doka's book Disenfranchised Grief: Recognizing Hidden Sorrow, therapist Jeffrey Kauffman writes about the?intrapsychic dimensions of grief. He considers hallucinations and dreams about the deceased to be "extremely significant intrapsychic communications"?a sort of "grief language" that helps the griever realize the death and its meaning, and serves to resolve the griever's relationship to the deceased (pp. 27-28).

In her book Seven Choices: Finding Daylight after Loss Shatters Your World, Elizabeth Harper Neeld observes that "nearly everyone experiences some kind of strange phenomenon following a loss. But most people are embarrassed to talk about these unusual events for fear that others will think they are crazy." She writes,

There are many theories to explain strange events that occur. Physicists talk about ?implicate order? and ?morphogenic fields.? Scientists talk about ?laws of seriality? and ?object-impact interactions.? Theologians talk about ?grace? and ?a higher Being.? The most useful way to hold these mysterious events early in the experience of grieving is not to try to understand them but merely to acknowledge and reflect on them. And to realize that a grieving person who sees or hears something unexplainable has not suddenly become addled or weak-minded. We don?t have to be able to explain a phenomenon in order to take comfort from it or to marvel at it. Perhaps the most important thing about experiencing such occurrences is the truth they put before us: that we do not know everything. That there are sources of comfort and of Presence that we cannot explain. That life contains mysteries, and that it is possible to be greatly enriched and even strengthened by these mysteries. That we can be blessed by moments of grace (pp. 41-42)?.

In his book, Love Lives On: Learning from the Extraordinary Experiences of the Bereaved, grief expert Louis LaGrand encourages mourners to seek?actively and intentionally?what he calls an extraordinary encounter with the deceased loved one:

I tell every client who comes to me that there is nothing wrong with asking or praying for a sign that your loved one is okay. You will receive a sign when you need it most. Be patient. Persist. Be specific. Keep petitioning. Stay alert and increase your awareness of the coincidences, feelings, unusual happenings, intuitions, and good things that occur during your day. Give thanks when what you have prayed for arrives. Persistent prayer cannot be denied. In particular, ask your Higher Power to allow you to have a visitation dream. Many spiritual counselors believe that dreams are the easiest way for spirits to communicate with survivors (p. 119).

Those who have loved and lost a cherished animal companion may be familiar with this phenomenon. In?Losing Your Dog: Coping with Grief When a Pet Dies, psychologist Mickie Gustafson describes how?bereaved animal lovers "against all reason were forever looking for their [pet] or listening for various sounds or signs of it." She explains:

This is because their sense of loss is so overwhelming that it simply dominates normal logical thinking. This watchfulness also means that you become more and more sensitive to everything that might remind you of the dead pet. You listen and look, expecting to see or hear the missing [animal]?and sometimes it seems to you that you do. All your senses are on the alert and receptive to everything that might be a sign of communication from the dead animal. And this?the momentary impression of seeing or hearing what you are looking for?provides both solace and a respite in your search?(?p. 18).
??

No one really knows why grief produces such powerful, mystical processes?but we do know that hallucinations, communications, dreams, visions and visitations are a frequent experience of the bereaved. They are by no means abnormal, and they do not forecast a complicated grief reaction. While some people find them distressing, it is generally believed that such mystical grief experiences have great power and personal significance for the mourner, and may be an important if not vital part of?healing.

Suggestions for Coping with Mystical Experiences
  • Make use of your dreams: record them, or share them with someone who will listen but not interpret them for you. Keep in mind that no one is a better expert at interpreting your dreams than you are.
  • Don?t judge yourself or others who have mystical experiences, and don?t think there?s something wrong with you if you?ve never had them. Grief responses differ from one person to another, and it is normal to experience a wide range of emotions during the grieving process.
  • Don?t worry whether such experiences are real or simply a figment of your imagination. If they bring you comfort, does it really matter? And if such an experience is unpleasant or frightening for you, make certain that you talk to someone who will support you.

Profitable Internet Promotion Ideas That You May Not Be Using | The ...

Using Internet promotion, you can make your business more profitable. You can potentially entice customers globally, which is the main allure of online marketing. It?s important that you become familiar with the best Website marketing practices to do your business the most good. For some great tips, take a look at the article below.

Avoid too much dazzle on your website because it can be very distracting. You only have 5 seconds to get a visitors attention. If it takes longer than this, they will move on to the next one.

Make sure you know what tools your competitors are using to drive business. You will always encounter competitors regardless of your area of concentration.

Get your name noticed by advertising on websites that receive heavy traffic. This may be a big investment, but it can make a great big difference. Be sure to find yourself a well received and reputable website to promote yourself on that can get you more attention on a regular basis.

Use social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook as a part of your Internet marketing campaign. These social media sites keep you in direct contact with your customers and give you the quickest way to promote sales or promotions. Do not share promotional material only; provide your audience with interesting and useful content as often as possible. Rather, provide posts that are informative and witty, with a little bit of sales lingo scattered here and there.

Building a squeeze page is one tactic for building your contact list. Basically, you?re creating a page that will draw your visitors in to sign up for something, thus allowing you to gain their emails. To get the most information possible you can even offer them a gift in return for their e-mail address. This way, visitors receive a nice reminder of your business for no charge, and you receive more contacts for your mailing list.

If using images on your site, always include captions. The algorithm of the search engine will determine the way your website content is ranked when your keyword is struck. With solid captions for most images on your site, you will see your rank rise on search results pages.

Be certain that your website has the information that visitors need. Customers want more information that includes business hours, business address and other relevant information. Post reviews of your products and write articles to keep your readers interested and establish your business as a reference.

Whatever you do, make your website stand out among the rest. There are so many web sites out there that in order to drive more visitors to your website, you will need to make it stand out from the others. One way to achieve this is to focus on exclusive products and services.

Online Business

Finding information on effective marketing strategies does not have to cost a fortune. Many free resources are readily available. There are online communities, blogs, e-books, and seminars available to help you out.

You have now acquired a much better understanding of the techniques you need to move your internet-based business ahead. The next step is to apply them, and see if they work for you. Minor adjustments in techniques may be necessary along the way. Always continue to gain knowledge and try new ideas to be successful.

Clinton 'not in any hurry' to make decision on 2016

With the 2016 election a little more than three years away, Hillary Clinton says she is in no hurry to make a decision about running for president.

?I?m not in any hurry," Clinton said in an interview with New York magazine ? her first since stepping down as secretary of state. "I think it?s a serious decision, not to be made lightly, but it?s also not one that has to be made soon."

Clinton said the seemingly endless speculation about her possible run is tiring, both for her and for America.

?This election is more than three years away, and I just don?t think it?s good for the country," she said. "It?s like when you meet somebody at a party and they look over your shoulder to see who else is there, and you want to talk to them about something that?s really important; in fact, maybe you came to the party to talk to that particular person, and they just want to know what?s next. I feel like that?s our political process right now. I just don?t think it is good.?

But Clinton has been keeping a keen eye on the political climate in Washington as she wrestles with the idea of another run for the White House.

"I?m both pragmatic and realistic," the former first lady and New York senator said. "I think I have a pretty good idea of the political and governmental challenges that are facing our leaders, and I?ll do whatever I can from whatever position I find myself in to advocate for the values and the policies I think are right for the country. I will just continue to weigh what the factors are that would influence me making a decision one way or the other.?

At the moment, Clinton says she's enjoying her time at home with Bill.

?We get to be at home together a lot more now than we used to in the last few years," she said. "We have a great time; we laugh at our dogs; we watch stupid movies; we take long walks; we go for a swim. You know, just ordinary, everyday pleasures.?

And her husband claims he doesn't know which way Hillary is leaning.

"I don't," Bill Clinton told CNN's Fareed Zakaria Sunday. "Somebody may know, but I don't. I'm not one of the people who does."
?
Still, Bill can understand the appeal of Hillary on the top of a 2016 ticket:

She served well as secretary of state, and because people across the political spectrum finally got to see her the way those of us who know her see her. And, you know, when you're ? when I was president and she, like me, was subject to a long line of relentless criticism, and she did in the Senate. And she made a lot of friends in the Senate among Republicans as well as Democrats. People in New York liked her across the political spectrum. But it was the first time the country had ever gotten to see her as somebody who just, what you see is what you get, she shows up for work every day, gets stuff done, and is very strong about it. I think that's ? but these polls don't mean much now. We're a long way ahead. I think she would be the first to tell you that there is no such thing as a done deal, ever, by anybody. But I don't know what she's going to do.

Given Hillary Clinton's experence as secretary of state and in the U.S. Senate, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi thinks she would be one of the best-prepared candidates in recent memory ? even moreso than Bill.

"More prepared than President Obama," Pelosi said on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday. "Certainly more prepared than President Bush [and] certainly more prepared than President Clinton I might admit."

Pelosi said it was premature to say who she'd support in a possible primary showdown between Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.

"I always have had a habit of saying, 'When you're serious about running, I'll be serious about it,'" she added. "But I think it would be magnificent for America to have a woman president. I think it would be just wonderful."

Clinton, for her part, agrees.

"We broke the great race barrier with President Obama but it's time that we also really ask ourselves deep down what it's going to take to elect a woman president," Clinton said Thursday during the question and answer session following a speech in Miami. "And I will certainly do what I can when that time comes to elect somebody ? whoever that somebody might be."

96% A Hijacking

All Critics (85) | Top Critics (24) | Fresh (82) | Rotten (3)

A nail-biter of a thriller that eschews conventional thrills, Tobias Lindholm's verit?-like tale of a Danish cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates is rivetingly low-key.

A finely spun tale that eschews sensationalism to focus on the human toll on the captives, their families and their employers back home.

This isn't an action picture; it's a picture about the suspense and terror of inaction.

Gripping and tightly focused.

Lindholm rations the meat and potatoes of plot to keep us captive at the bargaining table. It's a sadistic ploy that produces a real payoff.

A Hijacking is one of those perfect films that crop up every few years to prove that with true artistry, even the most exhausted genre can yield something new, rich, and strange.

It may sound like an odd recommendation but A Hijacking is brilliant precisely because of the skilful way it makes you feel engaged, unwell, anxious and terrified all at once.

Lindholm presents a potent portrait of diminishing mental capacity and challenged masculinity within the genre framework of a high seas, high stakes game of cat and mouse.

Harrowing drama of modern-day piracy as a sort of illicit corporate takeover; riveting and exhausting.

As well as the film's almost documentary realism (it's required viewing for shipping personnel), here the brief but telling extras show off Lindholm's dedication to accuracy.

In A Hijacking, we watch as talks break down -- at one point, the two parties are communicating by fax -- and are never certain how it will play out.

The result is not as dramatically neat as a Hollywood version of this material might be, and a twist at the end has a dark irony no mainstream film would dare.

As immediate and as hard-hitting as a punch in the gut, sucking you into a tension-filled situation in the corporate offices and on the high seas.

While there's a certain tautness to the result, the many longueurs along the way almost make one yearn for an infusion of good old Hollywood pizzazz.

A tense, gripping drama filled with psychological showdowns from Danish writer-director Tobias Lindholm.

... has an embedded feel without being a real-life report or documentary at all. It's a fictional film that hits both with blunt force and a surprising amount of complexity.

A Hijacking is more about one incident than about how it relates universally, but in thoughtfully exploring the specifics and emotions of that incident, Lindholm is able to show how modern life sometimes seems devoid of any accord.

A lean, stressful nail-biter, smart, well-written, nicely shot and wonderfully performed.

[Omar and Mikkel are] like Marcus and McTeague in Frank Norris's 1899 novel, handcuffed to each other in a struggle that could well end in mutually assured destruction.

Tobias Lindholm's slow-burning thriller makes a bid for verisimilitude that extends well beyond the use of natural light and handheld cameras.

Though the acting in "A Hijacking" is superb, the film is strictly a "follow-the-dots" offering. This is not entertainment. It is another overwhelmingly depressing foray into corporate greed.

Densest array of carbon nanotubes grown to date

[unable to retrieve full-text content]Carbon nanotubes? outstanding mechanical, electrical and thermal properties make them an alluring material to electronics manufacturers. However, until recently scientists believed that growing the high density of tiny graphene cylinders needed for many microelectronics applications would be difficult. Now a team from Cambridge University in England has devised a simple technique to increase the density of nanotube forests grown on conductive supports about five times over previous methods.

Gale Sayers Suing NFL, Riddell For Failing to Prevent Head Injuries

Image (1) gale-sayers.jpg for post 71349

Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers ?yesterday filed suit against the National Football League and helmet maker Riddell, claiming neither did enough to prevent head trauma that led to brain damage.

Sayers, who starred for the Chicago Bears from 1965-1971, has experienced headaches, memory loss and other effects from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, according to the suit.

The suit claims Sayers played with concussions because the NFL never warned him doing so could cause brain damage.

The five-count lawsuit also names Riddell as a defendant, claiming the helmet maker did not provide adequate safety instructions or information about which models provide the best protection.

Sayers? filing comes a month after the NFL reached a $765 million settlement with 4,500 former players for brain injuries suffered during their careers.

12 Vying In Boston Mayor Race To Succeed Menino

(Photo by Randy Belice/NBAE via Getty Images)

(Photo by Randy Belice/NBAE via Getty Images)

BOSTON (AP) ? Many Bostonians have never voted in a city election that didn?t include Thomas Menino on the ballot, and some aren?t old enough to remember a city without him at the helm.

So with the larger-than-life mayor retiring after two decades, it hardly seems surprising that none of the dozen candidates vying to succeed Menino have yet seemed able to separate themselves from the crowd.

Tuesday?s preliminary election, which will whittle the field of 12 down to two for the Nov. 5 final, has become a frantic neighborhood-by-neighborhood, street-by-street and even house-by-house scramble for votes. Conventional wisdom dictates that a candidate will need about 20,000 votes ? less than 20 percent of the total amount of votes expected to be cast ? to earn one of the top two spots.

?I really think it?s a jump ball,? said Lawrence DiCara, a Boston attorney and former City Council president. In such a crowded and fragmented field, DiCara said, candidates are playing less to a citywide audience and focusing more on identifying their niche supporters and making sure those people go the polls.

Menino, who took office in 1993 and is the city?s longest-serving mayor, decided not to seek an unprecedented sixth term after battling a series of health problems. He hasn?t endorsed any of his would-be successors, and his vaunted political machine should be largely idle Tuesday. Many of the city?s business leaders and other movers and shakers are also waiting on the sidelines to see who emerges from the pack.

The hopefuls include Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley; City Councilors Rob Consalvo, Michael Ross, John Connolly, Felix Arroyo and Charles Yancey; former school committee member John Barros; state Rep. Martin Walsh; former city housing chief Charlotte Golar Richie; radio station owner Charles Clemons; community organizer Bill Walczak; and former schoolteacher David Wyatt.

It?s a field that reflects an increasingly diverse city. Richie is seeking to become the city?s first female and first black mayor. The other African-American candidates are Barros, Yancey, Clemons and Wyatt. Arroyo, if elected, would be the first mayor of Latino background.

DiCara said Boston was a ?dramatically different city? than it was when he ran for mayor in 1983, the last mayoral election in Boston without an incumbent on the ballot, making it more likely a woman or minority candidate could prevail.

?I think to some extent we are reinventing ourselves politically,? he said

Supporters of minority candidates need only point to Linda Dorcena Forry, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, who won a special election in June for a state Senate seat long held by white, Irish-American men from South Boston.

In terms of fundraising, Walsh was leading the pack financially with $1.4 million raised through Sept. 15. Conley and Connolly also had both topped the $1 million mark in both fundraising and campaign spending through midmonth.

Connolly was the only candidate who declared prior to Menino?s announced departure and has focused his campaign on improving schools. Several recent polls have placed him at the top of the pack but by percentages within the polls? margins of error.

Few observers believe fundraising prowess or TV ads alone will dictate success.

?Anybody who says 100 percent they know what is going to happen Tuesday is a liar,? said Erin O?Brien, a political science professor at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. O?Brien, who previously advised Walsh on policy but is not currently a member of his campaign team, believes the preliminary election will largely hinge on the effectiveness of the candidates? get-out-the-vote efforts.

Former Mayor Raymond Flynn used a grassroots approach in the neighborhoods to emerge as the winner in the crowded 1983 race. But Flynn, who served 10 years as mayor before resigning to become U.S. ambassador to the Vatican, worries that many of today?s voters feel less connected to their neighborhoods.

?It?s about civic pride,? he said, when asked his advice for the candidates in the finals days of the campaign. ?I?d appeal to the civic pride of people. This is your city, this is your home, take pride in it.?

Jessica Simpson Planning Intimate Wedding

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson and her fianc? Eric Johnson are limiting the guest list for their upcoming nuptials to include only close pals and family members so their big day feels more intimate.

A source commenting on Simpsons plans said: "There will probably only be 75 to 100 guests. Jessica will definitely not invite more if she can help it. She wants to have only really close family and friends - the kind of people she speaks to a regular basis."

The couple had originally planned to tie the knot in Hawaii at a beach ceremony over the Christmas holiday period in 2012, but postponed their nuptials after Jessica got pregnant again.

The lovebirds have now decided on having the ceremony closer to home, with Hawaii being touted as a potential honeymoon destination instead.

Another source told National Enquirer magazine: "Jessica (Simpson) has always loved the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, and it's also a pretty convenient location for most of their guests. She just wants something classic and beautiful that takes your breath away."

It seems the 33-year-old Jessica Simpson - whose sister is Ashlee Simpson - isn't obsessing over the details of her big day, preferring to spend her free time immersed in her motherly duties instead.

A source commented: "Jessica is the antithesis of a bridezilla. She won't plan out every little detail at once; she'll think about it for a bit, the do more important things - like be a mother and take care of her newborn and daughter. The wedding isn't her only priority."

Private Cygnus spacecraft on its way to deliver food and clothing to space station

NASA launched a 1,500-pound care package today through Cygnus, its newest unmanned commercial spacecraft that will deliver food and clothing to the International Space Station.?

Orbital Sciences Corp. launched its Cygnus cargo capsule aboard an Antares rocket from a NASA flight facility in Virginia.

An untested commercial spacecraft blasted off on its first trek to the International Space Station today (Sept. 18), kicking off a major demonstration mission for its Virginia-based builders and NASA.

The unmanned?Cygnus spacecraft?and its Antares rocket soared into orbit with a tremendous roar at 10:58 a.m. EDT (1458 GMT) today from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility here ? a huge success for the commercial spaceflight company Orbital Sciences Corp., which built both vehicles. The spacecraft is now chasing the space station and is due to arrive early Sunday (Sept. 22), when it will be captured by astronauts using the outpost's robotic arm.

"Antares is the largest rocket that we've ever developed, and this will be the first payload that we've ever developed to rendezvous directly and autonomously of this size," said Frank Culbertson, Orbital's executive vice president. "It's been a long road to get to this point." [See photos of the Cygnus spacecraft's first launch]

The launch was delayed one day due to a technical glitch during the rocket's trip to its seaside pad. But the Wednesday liftoff appeared to go off smoothly, and Cygnus and Antares climbed into a clear blue sky.

During the countdown, NASA had to evacuate four homes around the launch area as a safety precaution in the unlikely chance the Antares rocket exploded during liftoff and blew out their windows.

A private spaceship rises

Orbital Sciences?has been developing the bus-size Cygnus spacecraft since 2008, when NASA picked the Dulles-based company as one of two private spaceflight firms to participate in its Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program. Under that program, Orbital received $288 million to develop Cygnus and Antares. The company later secured a $1.9 billion contract to provide full eight full delivery flights to the space station for NASA using the spacecraft.

"This is really a new way of doing business for NASA," said Alan Lindenmoyer, NASA's program manager for commercial crew and cargo. "It is a shared cost. We became an investor and advisor with Orbital."

With the retirement of NASA's space shuttle fleet in 2011, the agency is depending on new commercial spacecraft like Orbital's Cygnus to keep the space station stocked with supplies. NASA eventually plans to use private spaceships to ferry American astronauts to and from the space station.
